Hindustan College of Engineering, started in the year 1985, was conferred the "University Status" by University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India, Under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956 from the academic year 2008-09 and under the name HITS (Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science).
Today, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science is one of the most sought after engineering Institutions in Tamil Nadu, reputed for its highly qualified and experienced faculty and excellent infrastructural facilities for curricular and extra curricular activities, the University has maintained an enviable academic excellence right from its inception. Department of Computer Science and Engineering

The Department will aim to equip the students with the ability and skills to analyze, design and develop computer systems and their applications, with a curriculum that has a balanced emphasis on theory, practical and projects. The department is accredited by Nation Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the period of 3 years. The department has MoUs with leading IT Industries like NVIDIA, IBM and Dell-EMC. The department conducts subjects with more of hands-on sessions and encourages students to take up MOOC based online courses in NPTEL, IITBombayX, Coursera, Udacity and edX..The school conducts various activities under the banner of various professional bodies like IEEE, ACM, CSI, IET etc. The Students Association has hosted several symposiums, seminars and guest lecture from eminent organizations.

National Conference On Artificial Intelligence

National Conference on Artificial Intelligence (NCAI-2020) will be held on 27th  and 28th February, 2020 Chennai, India. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering ,Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science is organizing this conference. The main aim of this conference is to bring together leading scientists, researchers and scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of recent innovations in computing and data sciences. The conference provides opportunities for regional and international delegates to exchange and share innovative ideas and application experiences face to face, to establish research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration. The main objective of this conference is to encourage regional and international communication, promote professional interaction and recognize the contributions of individuals and organizations.
